Bio
Domini Alcantara was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. With both of his parents photographers, he was born with a special curiosity in the aesthetic of the image. Started interest in filmmaking at age of 16 when assigned to shoot a film for mother’s day at high school, shot “Hands on Mother’s Day”. This short film was well received by the audience encouraging him to pursue a career in film. In the search for the answer of how to make a shot cinematic, his curiosity into becoming a cinematographer began. Domini continued his studies at City College of New York, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film and Video Production, On June 2014 his work in "Harvard On Hudson" as a Director of Photography made the top 6 finalist in a nationwide competition in Hollywood at the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) clubhouse. In 2017 opportunities landed on his feet to become Steadicam operator. He has worked with Shelly Johnson ASC, Sebastian Chelin SDC, Pedro Lopez PJ and many other famous cinematographers, with whom Domini has shaped and mastered the art of Steadicam Operating. His first feature as Cinematographer is "Buscando Al Zorro" made in the hearts of the forest of Dominican Republic. The second is "Atravezando el Jordan" mostly shot at La Casita Studio, this drama shows the subtleties Jordan who takes the fastest not best route to his dream of becoming a basketball player. His latest feature as cinematographer "A Veces Grito" directed by award winning director Cesar Rodriguez is currently in post production.
